Marvin “Bug” Howard Jr., 73, of Riceville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home.
He was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and was preceded in death by his father, Marvin “Whitey” Howard Sr.; and two sisters, Shirley Lipps and Ailene Young. He was a member of Athens Church of Christ.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce K. Howard of Riceville; one daughter, April H. McKenzie of Etowah; one son and daughter-in-law, Marvin Justin and Kristina Howard – USAF – stationed in Alaska; three grandchildren, Austin McKenzie, and Brayden and Alayna Howard; his mother, June Moore Howard of Athens; four sisters and brother-in-law, Imogene Cox of Riceville, Pat Dennis of Cleveland, Frances Hickman of Cleveland, and Karen and Perry Randel of Athens; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Minister Travis Irwin officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
