Passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017

At Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Myrtle Potter Johnson and was preceded in death by a sister, Dolly “Doll” Colloms; three brothers, Ray Johnson, Dave Johnson, and John Johnson. He was Pastor and founder of New Community Church in Riceville.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years,

   Loraine Reno Johnson of Riceville

Four sons and daughters-in-law,

   Larry and Libby Johnson of Athens

   Terry and Jackie Johnson of Cobb Town, GA.

   Steve and Karen Johnson of Athens

   Scott and Denise Johnson of Athens

Nine grandchildren: Wayne and Crystal Johnson, Mark and Carrie Johnson, Shawn and Shawnda Johnson, Kyle and Megan Johnson, Stephanie and Eddie Talmidge, Jason Johnson, Felisha and Josh Bowers, Brian Johnson, and Anthony and Amy Johnson.

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 7 pm Saturday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will be 2 pm Sunday in Riceville Cemetery

The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
