Of Athens

Passed away Monday, July 31, 2017  

At Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens

 

A lifetime resident of Athens, he was the son of the late W.A. Goins. He was an employee of Resolute Forestry and was a member of Liberty Church of Jesus Christ. Roger was an avid deer hunter and outdoors man. He is known for his kindness and politeness to others. He had so much love for his family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Survivors include his wife of 41 years,

   Gail Stephens Goins of Athens

Three daughters and two sons-in-law,

   Amy and Billy Cranfield of Bryant AL.

   Tammy and Bengy Smith of Bryant, AL.

   Lorrie Wright of Athens

One son and daughter-in-law,

   Roger and Autumn Goins of Athens

10 grandchildren: Devan Gilbert, Courtney Spoons, Taylor Veal, Tori Cranfield, Whitney Smith, Will Wright, Paige Wright, Audrie Goins, Roman Goins, Tatum Goins

Seven great grandchildren: Addison Marion, Harper Kate Gilbert, Ian Gilbert, Jaxton Holland, Bryce Holland, and Jayden Holland.

His mother and step father,

   Margaret Lamb Flatt and Husband, Bill of Athens

Two brothers and one sister-in-law,

   Randy Goins of Athens

   Michael and Donna Goins of Oak Ridge

 

Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday at Liberty Church of Jesus Christ with the Brother Jason Kennedy and Brother Rick Pryor officiating. Burial will be in Sullins Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be Billy Cranfield, Bengy Smith, Tyler Hill, Jason Veal, Shawn Wright, Rex Wright, Will Wright, and Jeff Mobley.

 

The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday at Liberty Church of Jesus Christ.
