Of Riceville

Passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018

At Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens

 

Charles was born and raised in McMinn County, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice Morrison Johnson and was preceded in death by one infant brother.

 

He last worked at McKeehan Chair Company before his declining health. Even though his body was weak, up until his death, he was the toughest and most knowledgeable man you could ever wish to meet. He will be greatly missed but we rejoice to know he has a new set of legs and is walking in Heaven. He was a member of South Liberty Baptist Church and played for many years in the Gospel Group, The Pine Ridge Boys.

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 62 years, Betty Jo Moses Johnson

Four granddaughters: Misty Womac and James Parrella, Cayci Johnson, Jessica Lee, and Dawn Palmer

Five grandsons: Charlie and Sabrina Womac, Cody and Melissa Johnson, Josh Monroe, John Hughes and Jeff Hughes.

Three great granddaughters: Makenzie Burnette, Brettany Lee, and Brylee Johnson

Five great grandsons: Charlie Womac, JP Parrella, David Womac, Braylen Johnson and Jack Parrella.

Also a host of friends and family, special nurse and friend, Patsy Moses.

 

 

Funeral services will be 6:30 pm Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Watson and Rev. Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will be11 am Saturday in South Liberty Cemetery.

 

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

 

The family will receive friends 5-6:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
