At NHC Healthcare of Athens

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Austin and Carrie Yarber Tallent and was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Manual Tallent. He was an employee of Hammer and Johnson for 31 years and was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years,

   Wanda Faye Smith Tallent of Athens

One daughter and son-in-law,

   Rhonda and Scott Leamon of Athens

Two grandchildren: Dylan and Rachel Leamon

One brother and sister-in-law,

   Claude and Carol Tallent of Athens

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 5:30 pm Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Bernard officiating.  Burial will be 11 am Saturday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jr. Yarber, C.K. Kowlsen, Scott Leamon, Dylan Leamon and Howie Tallent. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Leamon, Bob Johnson, and Charles Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 5:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
