Don was a resident of the Chestuee Community and native of McMinn County. He was the son of the late Don D. Starkey Sr. and Anne June Haynes Starkey and was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Lilly Starkey and William and Bertha Haynes. He was an E5 Sargent in the Vietnam War, he served from January 1968 to August 1970. Don worked for Thomas & Betts for 34 years until he retired and was a member of Chestuee Baptist Church and served as deacon for 12 years.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years,

Two step great grandchildren, Zayne and Maddyson McIntosh.
One sister and brother-in-law,

Two sisters-in-law,
Doris and Bill Pressley of Calhoun
Willie Norwood of Calhoun
Several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb Leamon officiating and special speakers, Mark Kelly and Gary Moats. He will be laid to rest with Military Honor’s in McMinn Memory Gardens at 11 am Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brown, Joey Hutsell, Clay Jones, Dakota Nelms, Larry Nelms and Kyle Nelms. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason McIntosh, Joey Green, Gary Swafford and Adam Boggess.
The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
