Dorothy Dean Charles Ables, age 85, of Athens, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019, after a lengthy illness.
She was born and raised in Decatur before marrying and moving to Athens. Dorothy was thedaughter of the late A.C. and Belle Paris Charles and was preceded in death by her husband William Arlen “Abe” Ables, her siblings;
Fran Hughes, Gene Charles, Marshall Charles, Carry Charles, and JoAnn Charles.
She was retired from Damy Sewing Factory after 30 years. Her great love was her family. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Her daughter; Pamela Ables Lee and husband Tracy of Ooltewah, TN.
Granddaughter; Ashley Pickett (the love of her life), Special friend; “Bruno” her Boston Terrier,sister; Violet Charles Jackson of Decatur, and sister in law; Martha Ables Wagner of Etowah. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Dr. Steve Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Beta Cemetery, with
family serving as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
