EDWARD GEORGE BOUCHARD

Edward George Bouchard Jr, age 83, of Athens, and formerly of Miami, FL, went home to be at rest early Thursday morning, June 14, 2018, at his residence.

Edward was born in Troy, NY to the late Edward George Bouchard Sr and Bertha Auria Bouchard.

He attended Lasalle Military Academy and played the position of fullback on the football team.

After high school, he attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA where he also played fullback on the football team.

Edward later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Rhein Main Air Force Base in Germany.

After his military career, he met his bride to be, Helen Marie Childers in Missouri. They later married

 in Great Falls, MT, where he started his career at a local TV station.

Edward and his wife, later moved to Miami, FL where he served as a Broadcast Engineer for local ABC affiliate, TV station WPLG. His career with the TV station lasted for over 30 years.

In 1989, when Edward was in his mid- fifties, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Barry University in Miami, FL with a Bachelor of Science in Technology.

He and his wife, later purchased a farm and moved to Homestead, FL while still working at the TV station in Miami.

Edward was a very gifted and talented man, always thinking more of others than himself.

He enjoyed farming, and even had his pilot’s license. He flew his family to the Bahamas on several occasions.

After his retirement, Edward purchased property in Ten Mile, TN and raised cattle.

He later moved to Athens, and built houses in Keith Meadows Subdivision, where he lived until the time of his home going.

He attended the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Athens.

Edward is survived by two precious daughters,

 Debra Ann Bouchard and Tim MacDonald, of West Valley City, UT

 Linda and Jeff Bertoen, of Mount Juliet, TN

His grandson, Joshua Bertoen

Two brothers, Ronald Bouchard of Troy, NY and Jerry and Penny Bouchard of Glen Falls, NY

The family would like to say a special word of appreciation to Edward’s caregivers, Shakori Pirkle and Catie Caldwell, for the love and compassion shown to them and Edward during his illness.

At Edward’s request, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service.
