Passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020
At his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Bill and Marie Todd Murphy and was preceded in death by a brother, Wilburn Murphy. Hugh was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Mayfield’s and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years,

Travis and Stephanie Farmer of Athens
Five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 7 pm Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Stephens officiating. Burial will be 11 am Friday in McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Roderick, Brett Powers, Nevin Farmer, Adam Lein, Mike Pendleton, and Travis Farmer.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
