James Fred “Jim” Bright
Age 89
Of Athens
Went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, September 15, 2018
At his residence.
A native of Hiltons, VA. and resident of Athens since 1990 and former resident of Dolton, IL., he was the son of the late Bordie and Lessie Hooker Bright and was preceded in death by a two sisters, Bernice Bays and Faye Taylor; one brother, Kelly Bright and a grandson, Sam Biter. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and truly loved the Lord.
He had served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Jim was the best husband, dad, grandfather and father-in-law. He always had a smile on his face and never meet a stranger.
He served in the Bus Ministry at First Baptist Church in Hammond, IN. for 57 years and at Fairview Baptist Church Bus Ministry for 26 years.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barsha Clark Bright

Rose and Jim Farr of Niota
Five grandchildren: Stephen Farr and wife, Jess, Jennifer Shearon and husband, Jonathan, Jillian Reed and husband, Adam, Jamie Moran and husband, Vince, and Jacquelyn Bustick and husband, Kane

One sister, Nell Taylor of Ft. Wayne, IN.

Funeral services will be 7 pm Monday at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Scallions and Pastor Matt Herrell officiating. Burial will be 11 am Tuesday in McMinn Memory Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Jim Farr, Jim Davis, Tim Biter, Jonathan Shearon, Stephen Farr and Vince Moran. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Will, Ken Reed, Ken Gilreath, Tim Vermaas, and Adam Reed.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at Fairview Baptist Church.
