Jerry McConkey, age 66, of Englewood, TN, went home to be with the lord on Friday, January 4, 2019.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Douglas and Mildred White McConkey and was preceded in death by brothers; Warren “Bum” McConkey and Buddy McConkey, sisters; Helen Phillips and Jane Kimsey. Jerry was retired from Crescent Hosiery Mill, and was currently working at the Athens IGA. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was a Member of Everlasting Life Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 41 Years Vickie Moses McConkey of Englewood.
A Daughter; Christie Kolo and fiancé Danny Jones of Englewood.
A Son; Matthew McConkey and spouse Jaclyn of Englewood.
Sister; Hazel Spurling of Athens.
Brother and spouse; Tim Sandy McConkey of Madisonville.
Grandchildren; Dylan, Nick and Haden Seagle; Cameron Cooley,
Macy McConkey, Logan Kolo and Noah Jones
Sisters in law: Judy and special brother in law Jim Russell of Etowah.
Barbara and Luther Martin of Englewood.
Faye Mosier of Madisonville.
Brother in laws: Jimmy Moses of Madisonville
Lonnie and Delores Moses of Riceville.
Many nieces and nephews; special nephew Nick Phillips.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday at Everlasting Life Baptist Church in Englewood with Rev Allen Watson and Rev Dewey Feezell officiating. Burial will follow in Chestua Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from Noon to 2 PM at the Church prior to the funeral service.
