.Joel Ingram Greeson ,age 65, of Athens, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019, at his residence.

A native of Lawrenceville, GA. and formerly of Tellico and longtime resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Joel Arthur Greeson and was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Manders.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Joel loved fishing, playing cards and most of all spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Newman Greeson

Four daughters and three sons-in-law,

   Alicia and Dennis Evans

   Amber and Clint Weltman

   Ashley and Cory Koernke

   April Pierce

Three sons and daughters-in-law,

   Gabriel and Briana Greeson

   Joseph and Natasha Greeson

   Benjamin and Brandy Greeson

16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren

Mother-in-law, whom is like a mother, Wanda Newman, also known as “Na Nas”

Brother-in-law, Stan Newman

Cousin, Cathy Peters and several nieces and nephews.

Special friends, Eleanor Morehead, Darla Rice, Earl Day, Pansy Mathis, Terry Carpenter, Joe Trogdon, and Donovan Pierce.


Funeral services will be 7 pm Friday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Houston officiating.


The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
