Laura Mae Williams Huckabey, 84, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.
She was a faithful member of The South Liberty Church of Christ, a homemaker, gardener, and longtime resident of the South Liberty community near Athens, Tenn. She retired from the University of Tennessee Extension Service. She was the daughter of George Ellis and Ortha Ellen Brown Williams.
She is now reunited with her husband of 59 years, George Huckabey. When they worked together at Sears, they met, and Daddy used to say he “got her from Sears and Roebuck!”
Their legacy consists of six children, their spouses, 16 grandchildren, and one great-grandson: Randy and Lynn Huckabey, of Marietta, Ga, Linda and Tom Stinson, of LaVergne, Tenn., Jeffery Zane Huckabey, of Laurel, Md., Craig and Laurie Huckabey, of Athens, Tenn., Becca and Barry Pritchett, of Ellijay, Ga, and Kimberly and John Hart, of Pikeville, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren: Kinsey Huckabey, Ayla Huckabey, Leah Stinson, Emma Stinson, and Mandy Stinson, Ian Huckabey, Lachlan Huckabey, and Linnea Huckabey, Bryson Huckabey, Dr. Joel and Emma Pritchett and Graham Pritchett (great-grandson), Zach Pritchett and Breann Pritchett, Jared Hart, Lincoln Hart, and Audra Hart.
Also of special mention is Dr. Thomas Layman, longtime friend and physician of the family.
She is survived by her sister, Bernice Williams Elliott of Englewood, Tenn., brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kris Williams and sister-in-law, Louise Williams, of Athens, Tenn.
She is preceded in death by brothers Daniel, Donald and Boyd Williams.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 11 from 6-8 PM. at the South Liberty Church of Christ @ County Road #679 (Coordinates: 35.3647519,-84.6345031) and Saturday, May 12 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the South Liberty Church of Christ. The funeral service will be at 11AM, which will be immediately followed by a graveside service in the South Liberty Church Cemetery.
