Louise “Nanny” Elizabeth Strickland Galyon

Passed away Monday, December 16, 2019
At her residence surrounded by her loving family.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Cora Wright Strickland and was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd “Shorty” Galyon; two brothers, Lorance Strickland and Robert Strickland; one sister, Edith Liles. Her passion was ‘taking care of old folks”, softball games, horse shows, buggy racing, drag racing and shopping. She also loved riding in the car with no destination.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law,

Bobbie and Rodney Peeler of Athens
Brenda and David Dockins of Cleveland
Glenda and Mike Loyd of Hixson
Eight grandchildren: Floyd and Steafinie Chrisman, Cecilia and “Frog” Carter, Jennifer and John Frazier, Kim and Eric Sinclair, Mariah Peeler, Michael and Megan McKeehan, Karmen and Jake Miller, Buffy and Todd Weller.
11 great grandchildren: Dustin and Alysia Carter, Alli Carter, Abbi Carter, Jodi Chrisman, Avianna Miller, Kaleb Frazier, Joshua Frazier, Kendall Frazier, Kade Sinclair, Mason Sinclair, John Evan Sinclair and special great great grandchildren, Elliott and Everly Carter.
One sister, Donna Humphrey of Niota
Graveside services will be 2:30 pm Wednesday in McMinn Memory Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Pallbearers will be Elliott Carter, Floyd Chrisman, Dustin Carter, “Frog” Carter, and Justin Hooper.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
