MARY ELIZABETH (BOWERS) STINNETT

Mary Elizabeth Bowers Stinnett, Age 82, Of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 1, 2018, At Starr Regional Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Isabell Bowers.  She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd W. Stinnett, a son; Johnny Ray Stinnett, brothers; James A. Bowers and Joe W. Bowers, and a sister Sarah Lucille Vaughn. Mary enjoyed listening to Bluegrass Gospel music, watching religious programs, as well as spending time with family and friends.  She was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include:

A Daughter and Son in law; Pamela and James McCowan of Niota.

A Son and Daughter in law; Farrell and Kathy Bowers of Sweetwater.

A Brother; Robert Bowers of Chattsworth, GA.

Daughter in law; Teresa Stinnett of Athens.

Grandchildren: Bridget Hensley, Alen Stinnett, Jesse Stinnett, Nathan Stinnett, Stacy Mulkey, John Stinnett, Daniel Stinnett, Lacey Branan, James Bowers Cindy Shute, and Jason Bowers.  A host of great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.  An honorary grandson Ronnie “Buddy L” Millsaps.  Special friend and honorary granddaughter; Kelley Akins, and Charlie; her therapy dog.  A special thanks to Ben and Summer with Encompass Home Health. 

Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1-2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
