Regina “Jean” Wright Goforth, age 87, of Riceville, passed into the Heavenly Gates, January 24, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Woodstock, GA to the late T.S. and Lou Dotson Wright, who later lived in the Lamontville community near Calhoun. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Herschel Goforth, three sisters, Sue Davis, Hazel Hiefner and Marie Johnston, along with one brother, Roy Wright.
In her early years, she was a fashion model for DuPont of Chattanooga. Jean was a Christian who had a beautiful singing voice. She loved playing the piano and singing hymns with her late sister-in-law, Wanda Wright. She dearly loved her family and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean was blessed with gifts of mercy and compassion from her Lord and Savior. She was also of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by a son, Ricky Goforth of Riceville,
A daughter, Janice Goforth of Madisonville
Grandchildren, Chuck Goforth, Butch Goforth, Blake Goforth and Brianna Irvin
Great-grandchildren, Faith Goforth, Blesslyn Goforth, Lilly Ann Goforth and Owen Goforth
Three brothers, Floyd Wright, Clarence Wright and Loys Wright
Along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Monday, January 27, 2020, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Mitchell Wright and Pastor Dennis Leamon officiating. Family and friends will gather at Ziegler Funeral Home at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 28, 2020 to proceed to Eastanallee Cemetery for the 11:00 am graveside service. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Goforth, Shannon Wright, Chris Powers, Tim Powers, Chuck Goforth and Ronald Richardson.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 27, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm prior to the funeral service at Ziegler Funeral Home.
