Passed away Thursday, August 8, 2019

At his home after several years of sickness.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Cecil and Maude Stanton Johnson and was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Martha Rose Johnson Smith and Clay Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Martha Johnson.  His hobbies were buying cars and land and he worked at Athens Bed Company for 40 years.  Sonny trusted Jesus as his Savior on October 1972-Phillipians 3.9. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years,

    Elizabeth A. Cansler Johnson of Athens

Brothers and sisters-in-law,

   Bill and Jane Johnson of Athens

   JW and Judy Johnson of Rossville, GA.

One sister,

   Joann Johnson Coleman of Athens

Several nieces and nephews

Special caregivers, Dot Riedel and Jane Johnson

Graveside services will be 12 noon Saturday at Sullins Cemetery with Bro. Donnie Dalton officiating.  

Pallbearers will be J.C. Grady, Tim Turner, Larry Gibson, Doug Hamby, Eddie Cansler, and David Watson.
