Wilburn Jackson “Dub” Simpson

Age 84

Of Niota

Passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018  

At his residence.


A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late W.J. Simpson Sr. and Effie Bohannon Simpson and was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Price and Francis Price; two brothers, William Simpson and John Simpson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.


Survivors include his wife of 64 years,

   Katherine Louise Miller Simpson of Niota

Two sons and daughters-in-law,

   Ray and Mary Simpson of Niota

   Jerry and Pat Simpson of Niota

Several grandchildren and great grandchildren

One brother and sister-in-law,

   Joe and Linda Simpson of Niota

Four sisters and one brother-in-law,

   Sue and Fred Welch of Cartersville, GA.

   Dot Lane of Sweetwater

   Nelda Meyers of Sweetwater

   Mary Jane Henley of Chattanooga

Several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Burton and Rev. Caggie Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends 12-2 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
