Alberta Hammonds Rogers, lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She left an enduring mark on everyone she knew with her boundless empathy, grace, and love. Alberta’s greatest pride was in her family and friends. She was an artist who loved to paint and draw. Alberta had a knack for seeing beauty everywhere she went, even in the most unexpected places. She had a vibrancy, eccentricity, and love of life that was contagious. Alberta elevated the people close to her by exemplifying the kind of forgiveness, patience, and compassion that this world so dearly needs. She was deeply loved, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Alberta is preceded in death by her parents: Addie and Arlin “Cap” Hammonds, her sisters: Louise Lombardy, Barbara Teague, Octsie Price, and Brenda Tallent, and her brother: Jeral Hammonds.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arthur Rogers; her son and daughter in law, Brian and Josalyn Rogers; her 4 grandchildren, Dustin, Kelsey, Ethan, and Griffin Rogers; and her sister Terry Nesmith. She was a lifelong member of Clay Hill Baptist Church.
