B. Janet Kennedy Bidwell, age 86, a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years and enjoyed doing crafts.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert Franklin and Belva Hixon Kennedy, husband of 27 years: Glenn Ross Bidwell, brothers: James Sherman Kennedy and Larry Arnold Kennedy, sisters: Bobbie June Thomas and Vickie Jo McCamish, special friend of 72 years: Rosella Thompson, great-grandson: Logan Goins, and a great-granddaughter: Sariah Goins.
Janet is survived by her daughters: Iva Bidwell Thurman and Glenda Bidwell Davis (Tylan), grandchildren: Michael Goins (Shalice), Stephen Goins, and Robbie Thurman (Julie), great-grandchildren: Skylyn, Elisha, Olivia, Lyndon, Addison, Karma, Haislee, Easton, and Harper, great-great-grandson: Jaxton, a sister: Reba Hiefnar, sisters-in-law: Pat Kennedy and Peggy Kennedy, former son-in-law: Charlie Thurman, and several very special nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Caris Hospice and especially the care shown by RN Sandy Stewart and LPN Samantha Troup, and Dr Vickie Turnbough.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Travis Torbett, Reverend Jimmy Lewis, Reverend Keith Wilcox, and Reverend Dennis Leamon officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Michael Goins, Robbie Thurman, Jerry Davis, Elisha Goins, Trevor Sise, Bryan Thomas, Tylan Davis, Shawn Davis and Colton Davis will serve as pallbearers.
