Barry D. Derrick, age 77, of Riceville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. He was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church and retired from Mayfield Dairy Plant after 42 years as Quality Control Manager. Barry was an avid hunter and skillful outdoorsman. He loved his family, the outdoors, his church, his loving wife, Janice and most importantly his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A native of McMinn County, he is preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Annie Borden Derrick.
He is survived by his wife: Janice Lewis Derrick, daughter: Stacy Warner (Paul), sons: Chad Derrick (Jessica), Jeff Derrick (Lauren), grandchildren: Hannah Pemberton, Mason Warner, Karsan Jackson (Terry), Isabelle Jaramillo, Zakary Derrick, Avery Derrick, great grandchildren: Waylon Jackson, sister: Billie Rhea, and brothers: Borden Derrick and Tracy Derrick (Linda).
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Short Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Brother Jerry Stephens officiating. Interment will follow directly after services in Short Creek Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Derrick, Jeff Derrick, Andy Derrick, Jason Bowman, Tracy Derrick, and Eric Brackner.
