Betty Jo Moses Queen, age 84, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. She was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church. Betty graduated from Englewood High School in 1959.
A native of McMinn County, she is preceded in death by her parents: Farley and Georgia Bowers Moses, her loving husband of 62 years: Reverend Calvin Carl Queen, son: Tracy Calvin Queen, sisters: Ruth Moses and Mozelle Moses, brothers: Jerry Moses, Glen Moses, and J.L. Moses, sisters-in-law: Carolyn McKinney and Carrie Moore-Hashe, and her father and mother-in-law: Bob and Helen Queen.
She is survived by daughters: Teresa Queen Boyd (Charles “Bub”), and Kimberly Queen Lanterman (Michael), grandchildren: Chase Boyd (Tabatha), Amber Boyd Rouse (Matt), Victoria Lanterman, Hannah Lanterman, Chelsie Million, brothers: Roy Moses and Bud Moses, daughter-in-law: Janie Queen, sisters-in-law: Jo Ann Bennett and Judy Herd (Duck), brother-in-law: Scott McKinney, along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Reverend Darrell Griffis and Reverend Gene Guffey officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Tellico Avenue Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Boyd, Matt Rouse, Mike Lanterman, Duck Herd, Weston Clayton, and Scotty Allen.
