Betty Kate (Vincent) Wiley

Betty Kate Vincent Wiley, age 82, of Athens, passed away at UT Medical Center on Sunday, October 29, 2023.  A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a longtime member of East Athens Baptist Church. Betty was a retired sales associate from Sears. She loved her family, was a great mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a great cook and shared her ability to cook with others.

Betty was a daughter of the late Taylor and Cora Morgan Vincent. She is also preceded by her loving husband of 58 years: Bobby N. Wiley, an infant son, and a daughter: Beverly Denise Wiley Underdown.

Betty is survived by daughters: Donna Carmichael of Riceville and Julie Wiley (Freddie) of Athens,  

6 grandchildren: Johnny Bob Underdown (Missy), Jennifer Morgan (Chris), Lynsey Corley (Trey), Tyler Wiley, and Elizabeth Wiley, 9 great-grandchildren: Landen and Miles Underdown, Gresham, Henry, and Charlie Morgan, Kiley and Carter Corley, Kayden and Heidi Wiley, brother: T.R. Vincent of Athens, and sisters: Christine King of Geneva, IL, and Frankie Sue White of Cleveland, TN.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow directly after the service at Clear Springs Cemetery in Athens.  

Trey Corley, Chris Morgan, Johnny Underdown, Tyler Wiley, Landen Underdown and Freddie Wiley will serve as pallbearers.
