Billy Joe Clayton, age 67, native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. He was retired from Whirlpool as a press operator and was a member of Walker Valley Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bernard and Dorthia Morgan Clayton, a brother: Edward Gene “Eddie” Clayton.
Billy is survived by his daughters: Kristie Clayton and Nicole Clayton, grandchildren: Kruze Clayton, Waylon McKenzie, Karma Bruce, Macey Bunch, J.J. Fairbanks, and Samuel Fairbanks, a brother: Jerry Clayton, special family member: Reed Clayton, mother of his children and best friend: Teresa Erwin Clayton, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Billy’s caregivers: Trena Matthews and Rachel Nelson.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Ziegler Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Reverend Johnny Staton officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Reed Clayton, Ricky Clayton, Donny Morgan, Kruze Clayton, Justin Bruce, and Waylon McKenzie will be serving as pallbearers.
