Billy Lynn “Bill” Dyke, Sr, age 73, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was a member of Third Street Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He was associated with Athens Stove Works.
Bill was born in Maryville to the late Walter and Leela Hurst Dyke and was a longtime resident of McMinn County. He was also preceded in death by a son: Chris Dyke, brothers: Ray Dyke, Jack Dyke, Bobby Dyke, David Dyke, and Lewis Dyke, and sister: Essie Ward.
He is survived by his loving wife: Denise Harrison Dyke, daughters: Makenzie Jean Dyke, Carriana Marie Dyke, Lacie Page Lucas (Josh), sons: Billy Dyke (Gloria), Jeremy Dyke (Mariah), brothers: Blaine Dyke (Betty), Jimmy Dyke (Karen), sisters: Violet Ledger, Kathy Matoy, sisters-in-law: Alla Dyke, Virginia Dyke, grandchildren: Baylee, Bradlee, Bradee, Cooper, Oaklee, Lawson, Kendall, Isley, Willow, Sunny, and Emmy.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow 2:00 PM with Pastor Greg Charles officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens with full military honors.
Bradlee Dyke, Baylee Dyke, Cooper Dyke, Terry Robison, Lawson Green, Austin Wiseman will serve as pallbearers. Eddie Robison, Brent Dyke, Robby Dyke, Jeff Robison will serve as honorary pallbearers.
