Billy Ray Goins

Billy Ray Goins, age 72, of Athens, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at his residence.

Billy was a son of the late Henry Bo and Annabell Louise Griffith Goins. He is further preceded by a son: Daniel Goins, brother-in-law: Ralph Lankford, sisters: Louise Myers and Shirley Thell, brother: Donnie Goins, and the mother of his child: Nancy Carroll.

He is survived by a son: Joey (J.T.) Carroll, grandchildren: Kylie Carroll, Tyles Carroll, sisters: Wanda Lankford, Bobbie Sue Aikens (Robert), Jenna Mae Ellison (John), Frances Everhart, special friend: Richard Thell, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Don Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Sullins Cemetery.

Dennis Hall, Richard Tuell, Ricky Goins, Hunter Givens, Melvin Coleman, and Anthony Hicks will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made toward funeral expenses to Ziegler Funeral Home.
