Bonnie Lea (Summitt) Brannon

Bonnie Lea Summitt Brannon, age 87, longtime resident of Riceville, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She loved kids and babysat for the neighborhood. Bonnie also enjoyed canning and cooking. She attended Hilltop Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Roy Houston Summitt and Minona Clemmer Summitt, her loving husband of 62 years: Joe K. Brannon, her siblings: Willie Sue Summitt Henry, Jone Clemmer Summitt, Charles Howard “Charlie” Summitt, Franklin Dee Summitt, Sr, Rev. Roy Edison “Buster” Summitt, Jr., Kenneth Calvin Summitt, James Ulysess Summitt, twin brother: Bobby Houston Summitt, and grandson: K.C. Cannon.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Allen (Beverly) Brannon and Susan Brannon, a granddaughter: Breann Bell, great-grandchildren: Harley Bell and Shealigh Hicks, a sister: Wanda Lovingood, along with several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Ziegler Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Brother Fred Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Riceville Cemetery.

Bonnie’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
