Bonnie Lee (Walker) Thompson

Bonnie Lee Walker Thompson, age 95, of Riceville passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at her residence.

Bonnie was a native of Athens and lifelong resident of McMinn County.  She was a daughter of the late Memory and Lou Garrison Walker.  She is also preceded by her loving husband of 58 years Calvin “Buddy” Thompson on November 24, 2002, and siblings Tinie Thompson, Rheed Walker, and Edna Hacker.

Bonnie was a member of South Liberty Baptist Church.  She was a former employee of Chandler’s Fabrics and retired from K-Mart.  She loved sewing and working in her flower garden. 

Bonnie was loved by family and friends.

Bonnie is survived by

Sons Wayne Thompson (Brenda) of Riceville, Ronnie Thompson (Debbie) of Riceville, and Jeff Thompson of Blacksburg, VA;

Grandchildren Kevin Thompson (Paula), Jennifer Wright (Stacie), Wesley Thompson (Debbie), and Sarah Kennedy (Ben);

6 Great Grandchildren;

1 Great Great Grandson;

Special Care Giver Darla Moore who was like a daughter.

Funeral Services will be at 7:30 PM Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Stephens officiating. 

Interment will be 10 AM, Friday, January 6, 2023, at South Liberty Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Hacker, Chris Miller, George Lasher, Steve Bell, Tommy Smith, and Virgil Donavan.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM – 7 PM Thursday.
