Carl Edward McNeely, Sr. age 86, of Riceville, went home to be with his Savior, Friday, January 3, 2025, with his family at his side. Carl grew up in Meigs County and was a longtime resident of the Hillsview community near Riceville. He was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Laborers Union #846. Through the Labor Union, Carl was employed at both Watts Bar and Sequoyah Nuclear Plants. He was later employed at Rogers Creek Elementary School.
He was a son of the late Ernest and Francis Hicks McNeely. Carl is also preceded in death by his brothers: Weaver McKenzie, Clyde McNeely, and Jim McNeely, and his sister: Geneva Jenkins.
Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years: JoAnn Vaughn McNeely, son: Carl Edward “Junior” McNeely, Jr. (Anita), grandson: Dillon Chase McNeely (Chassity), along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Vic King and Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Short Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jeremy Sneed, Justin Faison, Curtis McNeely, Curtis Sewell, Scott Stayrock, and Jerry Boyd will serve as pallbearers.
