Carol (Wells) Mitchell

Carol Wells Mitchell, age 85, a resident of McMinn County for 33 years, and formerly of Orlando, FL, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025. She attended Englewood First Church of God.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Thomas Shipman and Lucille Nash Wells, her husband: James “Jimmy” Eugene Mitchell, and her sisters: Elizabeth Wells and Margaret Avant.

Carol is survived by her daughter: Jan Abney, two sons: Keith (Beverly) Abney, and Michael Abney, grandchildren: Carol Ann Abney, Michael Abney, Jennifer Abney, and her great-grandchildren: Aycelyn Jones and Kashton Jones, along with Carol Ann’s husband: Ja’onte “Best Buddy” Jones.

Visitation will be held at Ziegler Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from

12:00 PM-1:30 PM. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at McMinn Memory Gardens with Brother Jerry Plaster officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
