Carolyn Dean (Whaley) Burris

Carolyn Dean Whaley Burris, age 83, a native of Meigs County and longtime resident of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. She retired from Citizens National Bank with over 50 years of service as a loan officer and vice-president.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Gene Burris, her parents: Clyde and Gladys Galyon Whaley, her sons: Chadwick Eugene “Chad” Burris and Chris Burris, a sister: Shirley Jean McCracken, a brother: Kenneth Whaley, and a sister-in-law: Sandra Whaley.  

Carolyn is survived by her granddaughter: Haley Burris, a brother: Clyde Bo Whaley, brother-in-law: Johnny McCracken, sister-in-law: Paulette Whaley, nieces and nephews: Lori McCracken Elliott, Darren (Mina) McCracken, Jill Whaley, and Shelley Whaley, and her best friend and caregiver: Joyce Grubb.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Meadow Fork Cemetery with Reverend Keith Whitted officiating.

Carter Elliott, Sean McCracken, Kirk Brown, Mickey McCracken, Rodney Price, and Alex Martin will serve as pallbearers.
