Carolyn Rose “Gurnie” Dill Carter, age 79, of Riceville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2023.
A native of the Hillsview Community, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Fannie Harris Dill. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 50 years, Bobby Ray Carter, and her brother, Larry Dill. Carolyn was associated with American Uniform and retired from Athens Products. She was a long-time member of Short Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Jimmy) Rhea, and a son, Brent (Angela) Carter, grandchildren Rebecca (Kory) Gillam, Blake (Kaitlyn) Carter, Jill (James) Jones, Oakley (Ashley) Hicks, Paige Hicks, Heather (Kory) Rhea, 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Betty Joyce Myers. She is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Tonya Parker, Tresa Lovingood, Chelsea Baker, Makenzie Lovingood, Andy, Hailey Dill, Stacy Baker, and Caleb Parker.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Short Creek Baptist Church located at 892 County Road 50. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Reverend Travis Torbett and Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating. Graveside services will follow at Short Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Vic King officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Carter, Kory Gillam, Oakley Hicks, Dee Parker, Andy Dill, Stacy Baker, and Caleb Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Carter and R.J. Hicks.
