Carrie Lucille "Lucy" (Hicks) Burke

Carrie Lucille “Lucy” Hicks Burke, age 85, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 24, 2023. She was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church. Lucy was the owner and operator of Lucy’s Hair Fashions for over 30 years.

A native of McMinn County, she is preceded in death by her parents, King and Zenobia Stansberry Hicks, husband of 52 years, Clarence Eugene “Curly” Burke, sister: Dorothy “Dot” Riedel, and brothers: Curtis Hicks and Ed Hicks.

She is survived by her sons: Eddie Burke, Randy Burke, and Ronnie Burke (Darlene), grandchildren: Chase Burke (Michaela), Drew burke, Leaha Thomes (J.R.), Jason Burke (Angie), and Stephanie Frank (Michael), sister: Jane Johnson (Bill), brother: Dennis Hicks (Betty), several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Elliott officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at McMinn Memory Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
