Donald 'Don' Wayne Trew

Donald “Don” Wayne Trew, age 73, of Niota, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens.

Don was a native of Madisonville and lived many years in both Monroe and McMinn counties.  He was a son of the late Arlie and Abbie Martin Trew.

Don was a member of Mt. Calvary Church in Tellico Plains. 

Don served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict.  He worked as a carpenter for many years.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret Duckett Trew of Niota;

Daughters Rena’ Dockery (Tom) of Niota and Donna Trew of Niota;

Grandchildren Amy McDaniel, Ashley McDaniel, and Billy (B.J.) McDaniel.

Great Grandchildren Titus Ivey and Ava Grace Holloway;

Sisters Jeanette Martin (Melvin) of Madisonville and Cheryl Mobley (Sam) of Madisonville;

Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM, Monday February 13, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Scotty Bales and Rev. Gerald Lynn officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Niota Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be B.J. McDaniel, Zane Allison, Patrick Boyd, Bobby Croft, Marion Croft, and Eddie Mull.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard McDaniel and Dr. James Stanfield.

Visitation will be from 12 PM – 2 PM Monday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Scotty Bales at 1350 County Road 250, Niota, TN 37826 for missionary work.
