Dorothy 'Dot' (Hicks) Riedel

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Hicks Riedel, age 89, of Athens passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Dot was a native of Athens and lifelong resident of McMinn County.  She was a daughter of the late King and Zenovia Stansberry Hicks.  She was also preceded by her husband of 65 years Charles “Chuck” Riedel, son Nicholas Lee Riedel, and brothers Curtis Hicks and Ed Hicks.

Dot is survived by her

Son Douglas Scott Riedel I of Athens;

Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren;

Sisters Lucille Burke of Athens and Jane Johnson (Bill) of Athens;

Brother Dennis Hicks (Betty) of Athens;

Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Thursday January 12, 2023, at Ziegler Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at the Riedel Family Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 12 PM - 1 PM Thursday prior to the service.
