Eddie "Sleepy" D. Roderick

Eddie “Sleepy” D. Roderick, age 66, longtime resident of Meigs County, passed away on June 19, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Eddie also enjoyed auctions and yard sales. He attended McMinn County High School and worked for many years as an upholsterer at Pioneer Furniture. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Eddie is preceded in death by his parents: Eugene Roderick and Ruby Moses Roderick, brother: Ronnie E. Roderick, sisters: Tammy J. Roderick Novoa and Connie D Roderick, and great-granddaughter: Adalynn Murphy.

He is survived by his loving wife:  Joann Nelson Roderick, daughters: Alisha Brackett (Travis), Candice Roderick (Travis McHone), and Sandi Potter (Neal), son: Eddie Roderick, Jr, brothers and sisters: Patricia Norman (Dave), Bobby Roderick (Kathy), Don Roderick (Tanya), and Angela Briley (Barry), grandchildren: Deon Massingale, Haley Adams, David Freeman, Dalton Bean, Arianna McHone, Jacob Roderick, Jade Roderick, Joseph Roderick, Isaac Roderick, Jennifer Morgan, great-grandchildren: Asher Adams, Brancin Massingale, Easton Massingale, Raelynn Massingale, Evelyn Massingale, and Lindon Massingale, several nieces and nephews, his hunting and fishing buddies: Joshua and Lonnie Thurman, Bobby Kennedy, along with his own grandsons: David and Dalton.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 24, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM, in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Briley officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Decatur Cemetery.

 
Joshua Thurman, Lonnie Thurman, David Freeman, Travis McHone, Brandon Roderick, Larry Hale, and Bobby Kennedy will serve as pallbearers.
