Elsie Carolyn (Newman) Tallent

Elsie Carolyn Newman Tallent, age 80, longtime resident of McMinn County, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Carolyn was a former employee of the White Store in Athens and was later associated with Plastics Industries. She had attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Velma Wilson Newman, sisters: Juanita “Polly” Rinehart and Joyce Cockerham, and brothers: Thomas “Reese” Newman, Willie “Maynard” Newman, John Newman, and Robert Ed Newman, Sr, and a grandson: Cassidy Tallent.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Elaine Tallent and Renee Tallent, grandchildren: Josey Nolan Tallent and Shaye Evans, brothers: Jim Newman, Bige Newman, Ralph “Pete” Newman (Carolyn), and Archie “Bo” Newman (Vicki), sister-in-law: Eloise Newman, several nieces and nephews, along with her special friends: Paula and Garland Evans.

A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at McMinn Memory Gardens with Reverend Scott Leamon officiating.
