Gary Hiefnar, a devoted father, cherished grandfather, and faithful servant of God, passed away June 21, 2025 at the age of 56.
A proud graduate of McMinn County High School, Class of 1987, Gary dedicated his life to serving others through his skilled hands and generous heart. For 34 years, he was a self-employed carpenter, known for his craftsmanship, integrity, and commitment to excellence. Beyond his trade, he was a man of deep faith, serving as pastor of Safe Haven of Jesus Christ for 15 years. His sermons were filled with wisdom, compassion, and a genuine love for God’s Word.
Gary shared a lifelong love of music with his late brother, Chuck, and the two created memories and melodies that will echo in the hearts of those who knew them.
Among his proudest roles was being a father to his beloved daughter, Grace. He was not only her soccer coach and tennis supporter but also her lifelong best friend, guiding and cheering her on through every season of life. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his granddaughter, Amelia, who lovingly called him “Papa.”
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hiefnar, and his brother, Chuck Hiefnar. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, carried on by those who survive him: his father, Wayne Hiefnar; sister, Misty Pooler; brother, Brian Hiefnar; daughter, Grace Huckabey; son-in-law, Bryson Huckabey; and his precious granddaughter, Amelia Huckabey.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his spirit lives on in the lives he touched, the faith he lived, and the family he treasured.
Private services will be held for the family.
