Geneva Gladys Jackson Barnes Stevenson, age 89, native of West Virginia and longtime resident of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. She was a member of South Liberty Baptist Church. Geneva loved baking and watching the hummingbirds with her precious dog, Joppie. She was a dietary supervisor at Starr Regional Hospital for 37 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Virgie Jackson, first husband: Fred James Barnes and second husband: Clayton Stevenson, five sisters, and two brothers.
Geneva is survived by her daughter: Renee Barnes, sons: Regis Dwayne (Terri) Willis and Dennis Edwin Willis, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and her stepdaughters: Janet Manoski and Cheryl Nix.
The family will receive friends at Ziegler Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Duncan officiating. Interment will follow directly after funeral services at South Liberty Cemetery.
Eric Isbell, Ronnie Barnes, Will Price, John Price, Brad Willis, and Brian Willis will serve as pallbearers.
