Gerra (Walker) Garren

Gerra Walker Garren, age 77, longtime resident of McMinn County, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was a long-time donor to the Miracle Lake Christian Training Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Glen and Geraldine Malone Walker, her loving husband of 39 years: James Daniel Garren, a son: Gary Keith Jack and a daughter: Caryn Gay Jack Bowmen.

Gerra is survived by her daughters: Shannon Crowder, Gail Wilkey (Rick), a son: Kevin Garren, grandchildren: Jordan Garren, Waylon Morgan, Jacob Crowder, Jesse Wilkey (Taylor), and Cam Wilkey (Jessica).

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 10:00-11:30 AM at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM with Cam Wilkey officiating. Interment will follow the funeral services at Malone Cemetery in Athens.

Jake Crowder, Waylon Morgan, Jordan Garren, Jesse Wilkey, Cam Wilkey, Rick Wilkey, and Kevin Garren will serve as pallbearers.

Special message: Although we lived miles apart and hours away my mom Gerra and Kevin and Shannon’s dad Danny kept our family together through many hard times. Shannon and I had the privilege of spending nearly every day with mom for over a year now and we were able to care for her after Danny’s passing. Our family may have been small, but it was well blended, and all 5 children loved one another very much. For me it was Mama and Danny and for Kevin and Shannon it was Gerra and Daddy, but we were and are together a wonderful family. Even though we have suffered many losses now we continue forge forward in our love for one another and keeping the memories of those we lost alive. These last 10 months have been very hard especially after Danny’s passing and watching mom suffer through sickness. But we are thankful that Mom she died peacefully at home with her family. And we firmly believe they are now together in heaven waiting to greet us.
