Glen “Don” Donald Rucker, Sr, age 84, of Sweetwater passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was best known as “Don” in Tennessee. Don served in the United States Army, at Fort Dix New Jersey, and was stationed in Greenland from 1960-1962. He spent 50 years driving semi-trucks. Don loved to sing and play a guitar. He loved the Lord and asked every waitress, nurse, and cashier if they went to church.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William “Ken” and Ina Easter Rucker, his brothers: Hugh Rucker, Ralph Rucker, and Gordon Rucker, his sisters: Ruth Nunley Cansler, Lois Bivens, and Bernice Duncan.
Don is survived by his wife: Lillian Danser Rucker, children: Donna Rucker Godfrey (Robert), Glen Donald (Donnie) Rucker Jr. (Teresa), and Jeanette Rucker Brewer (Eddie), grandchildren: Chrystal Murphy (Mike), Brandon Godfrey, Jamin Godfrey (Kelsey), Brittnie Godfrey, Todd Godfrey, Kaitlynn Godfrey, Nathan Brewer, Cory Brewer (Meghan), Andy Rucker, Tyler Rucker, and Justin Rucker, great grandchildren: Mikayla, Robby, Ben, Charlie, Sofia, Little Jamin, Olivia, JJ, James, Amethyst, Linken, Stephen, Briana, Braxton, William, Olivia, Luke, Rylee, a great-great grandson: Wesson, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Fairview Baptist Church in Athens, TN, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM. Due to inclement weather, graveside services have been changes and will be held at Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM with full military honors.
Robert W. Godfrey, Glen Donald (Donnie) Rucker, Eddie Brewer, Brandon Godfrey, Jamin Godfrey, Mike Murphy, Todd Godfrey, and Cory Brewer will serve as pallbearers.
