Glenora Louise “Lucy” Cardin, age 81, who has been a resident of Open Arms Care since 2008, has joined her parents in Heaven on Thursday, May 5, 2022.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Geneva Roberts Cardin and Roy Franklin ‘Ross” Cardin. She is also preceded by sisters Eva Sue Cardin and Gladys DeLores “Dee” Cardin Spence, her only brother Oliver Franklin “Frank” Cardin, and brothers-in-law Lewis Layman, Marvin Burdette and Leon Spence.
She lived at home in Athens, TN for most of her life. Her mother lovingly and tenderly cared for her for 67 years before going to live at Open Arms Care. She was a “special sister” who brought much joy and love to her family. She was called “Lucy” by family and friends.
Some of her favorite things were Raggedy Ann dolls, band-aids, lotions, peppermints and music. She had a unique personality and enjoyed sharing her “secrets” with people.

Sisters Margaret Cardin Burdette of Rock Hill, SC, Kathy Cardin Layman of Athens, Wilma Cardin Hall (Kenneth) of Chattanooga, Sandra Cardin Jackson (Charles) of Athens, Sarah Cardin Blair (Jim) of Birchwood, Barbara Cardin Drumright (Joe) of Athens, and Wanda Cardin Moore (Wayne) of Glasgow, KY; Sister in law; Shirley Bohannon Cardin of Athens.
Several Nieces and Nephews;
Special Friend Diane Hunt.
Graveside services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at McMinn Memory Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Jackson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 8 – 9:30 AM Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Home.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
