Hope Esther Morrison

Hope Esther Marquez Morrison, age 94, of Niota, passed away Friday evening, October 20, 2023.

A native of Denver, CO, she was formerly of Highland, CA and Bellefonte, PA before moving to Niota over 38 years ago with her late husband, Lawrence.

Hope was a member of Marshall Hill Baptist Church and proudly served in the US Navy (WAVES) Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Services. She was a lifetime member of the VFW in Bellefonte, PA, member of the Eastern Star Gate City #12 in San Bernardino, CA and served as secretary for the Eastern Star # 599.

Hope retired from San Bernardino City Unified City School, having served in the cafeteria. She later was employed with Walmart in Athens.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Amelia Ayala Walsh, her loving husband of 58 years, Lawrence R. Morrison, and a son, David Lawrence Morrison.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Jimmy Quarles of Athens,

 son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Terrie Morrison of Highland, CA

Four grandchildren: Eric and Brittany Cagle of Athens

 Christopher Morrison and fiancé Carolyn Ron of San Bernardino, CA, Amy and Trevor Frame of Redlands, CA

 and Sarah and Eric Morales of Yucaipa, CA

She also leaves behind several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many relatives in Bellefonte, PA

Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Thursday, October 26, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Davis officiating.
Interment will be 11:00 am Friday, October 27, in McMinn Memory Gardens with full military honors.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 26, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm prior to the funeral service at Ziegler Funeral Home.
