Passed away Monday, August 12, 2019
At his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was the son of the late Clifford and Burnella “Sis” Daugherty Charles and was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances “Frankie” Palmer Charles on June 5, 2007; two sons, Johnny Oscar Charles Jr. “Little Joe”, Ricky Charles; two sisters, Wanda Barnes and Betty Lunsford; one brother, Donny Dean Charles. J.O. was a former employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad as a crane operator and was a member of West End Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank all the Dialysis Nurses and Doctors and the nurses at Amedisys Hospice for the care shown to their father.
Funeral services will be 7 pm Wednesday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Stephens and Rev. Jimmy Price officiating. Burial will be 11 am Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Boyd, Josh Hearron, Jonathan Charles, Brian Moore, Brad Moore, Will Henry, Dillian Charles, Nicklaus Wright, Dustin Dake, and Marshall Watson.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
