James Edwin “Ed” Chrisman, age 89, of Etowah, passed away peacefully in his home on June 29, 2024. Born on December 27, 1934, in Athens, TN, he was the son of the late James “Jim” Chrisman and Nellie Faye Hicks Chrisman.
He was retired from Athens Stove Works and served in the United States Army.
James was preceded in death by his siblings: Donald Chrisman, Douglas Chrisman, Hershel Chrisman, and Bobby Joe Chrisman, granddaughter: Amber Chrisman, as well as his beloved wife: Doris Jean Chrisman.
He is survived by his children: Pamela Chrisman of Etowah, TN, Vanessa Darity (Randy Darity) of Athens, GA, Tony Chrisman of Decatur, TN, a very special friend: Larrick Degree, and his grandchildren: Jamie Ball, April Kirk, Jeremy Monroe, Tiffany Thompson, Justin Chrisman, Faith Couch, and Riley Layman. He is also remembered by his eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga and one very special lady: Shalom Amparan. We truly appreciate the great care you provided.
James served his country as a PFC in the Army for two years. After his service, he worked as a hauler for several years and retired from Athens Stove Works.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Chaplain Chris Alexander officiating. Entombment will follow at the McMinn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
