James R. Curtis, age 93, a native of Crossville and lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2025, at Signature Healthcare in Cleveland. James attended Charleston Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bobby and Eliza Edmonds Curtis, his loving wife of 63 years: Katie “Fern” Cox Curtis, daughter: Kimberly Hutsell, sisters: Francis Hale, Kathleen Creason, Christine Cole, and Wanda Forsythe, brother: Wilburn Curtis, and sons-in-law C.L. Hutsell and Billy Sutton.
He is survived by his daughters: Cynthia Sutton of Charleston and Denise (Rick) Barnes of Cleveland, grandsons: Adam (Feleena) Sutton, Christopher (Carrie) Sutton, Matthew (Allison) Barnes, David Barnes, Logan (Cara) Sutton, and his great-grandchildren: Mahlon and Caroline Sutton, Benjamin and Arwen Barnes, his siblings: Wendell (Sandra) Curtis and Margaret Isham, and a sister-in-law: Sally Curtis .
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. CST, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Fredonia Cemetery in Crossville with Reverend Adam Sutton officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
