James Roy “Junior” Brown, age 96, a native of Meigs County and a longtime resident of Meigs County, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was retired from Pillsbury in Chattanooga. Junior was an avid car trader and loved Ford Rangers. A lifetime member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years.
He was recently recognized as the oldest founding member of the Meigs County Coon Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Lynn Duckworth Brown, a daughter: Valerie Brown Armour, a grandson: Chris Slusser, a sister: Catherine Wilson, and a brother: Kenneth Brown.
Junior is survived by his wife of 38 years: Wanda June Clark Brown, a daughter: Judy Slusser, his grandchildren: Eric Armour (Christy), Adam Armour (Alisha), Brandon Armour (Tisha), and Joe Slusser (Beth), granddaughter-in-law: Alana Slusser, 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, a son-in-law: Charles Armour, two sisters: Louise McKinney and Bertha Thompson, a special nephew: Terry Brown, along with several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services at this time.
