James “Buster” E. Evans, age 80, a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Edward “Edd” Garrett and Mallie Belle Morrow Evans, his loving wife of 63 years: Linda Hogan Evans, and a daughter-in-law: Becky Evans, sisters: Jo Evans Burnette and Jane Evans Morrow, and brothers: P.J. Evans and John Paul Evans.
Buster is survived by his son: Dan and Kim Evans of Riceville, his siblings: Tobbie (Dub) Walker, Tina (Jim) Hogan, Sheila (Ray) Lovingood, granddaughters: Cayci (Sean) Leamon, Jaclyn Evans, grandsons; Jake (Brooke) Evans, Jacob Crockett and Zachary Crockett, 3 great-grandchildren: Eva Leamon, Zeke and Cat Tyndall Evans, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kim Gilpen for her love and care of Buster.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Brother Daniel Stewart officiating. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at McMinn Memory Gardens with Jake Evans officiating.
Keith Zach, Ben Henderson, Ed Brooks, Chris Leonard, and Zeke Evans will serve as pallbearers.
