James “Claude” Womac, native and lifelong resident of Riceville, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024. He was an avid horseman and a true outdoorsman. Claude loved all types of hunting. He was a member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church in Riceville where he played bass guitar for the church for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Willard Sr. and Alzena Runion Womac, a brother: Charles Willard Womac, Jr., and a sister: Mary Ruth Womac.
Claude is survived by his daughters: Pam Calhoun of Riceville and Tina Knox (Jeff) of Niota, son: Mike Womac (Jess) of Niota, the mother of his children: Reba Jean Womac of Athens, sister: Dean Boyd Shaver of Riceville, brother: David Womac (Grace) of Riceville, grandchildren: Alicia Miller, Kody Knox, Kyler Knox, Hayden Webb, Destany Womac, Madison Womac, McKenzie Womac, and Layla Henderson, great-grandchildren: Elexis Williams, Jacquez Williams, Annelise Marie, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 12, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Ziegler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Garry King and Reverend Gene Guffey officiating. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Short Creek Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
