Jamey Lee Silvers, age 44, of Knoxville went on to be with his mother and his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville.
Jamey was a resident of Knoxville and a native of Madisonville. He was the son of the late Letha Jean Hampton Silvers. He is also preceded by maternal grandfather J.C. Hampton.
Jamey was a special young man who enjoyed life and touched so many people with his laughter and sense of humor. He loved travelling, watching birds and mostly enjoyed watching his tablets. He was a big fan of Elmo and police cars.
Jamey had previously participated in Special Olympics in the events of t-ball and bowling. He was selected as part of the Dream Team.
Jamey is survived by
Maternal Grandmother Rebecca June Garrett Hampton of Madisonville;
Aunt Brenda Walker and husband Newton of Madisonville;
Cousins Jacob, Christina, Jace and Charleigh Cooper of Englewood, TJ, Victoria, Christian, Zoey, James Jr., Jasper Eaton-Wilder of Savannah, GA;
Great Aunt Sue Martin of Sweetwater;
Several other Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Special thanks to Jamey’s extended family, the housemates and staff of Open Arms Care in Knoxville. The staff was the most caring and compassionate group of people that showed love and took excellent care of Jamey.
Special thanks also to Dr. Sadlon of Open Arms Care, Dr. Rider, Dr. Gash, and the entire critical care team at UT Medical Center for "thinking outside the box”, along with UT Palliative Care team for their participation in Jamey’s journey. Giving him the dignity and respect he deserved.
The family would like everyone to join us in celebrating the life of Jamey Silvers. We have been so blessed with all the prayers, words of encouragement and support throughout Jamey’s journey.
A Celebration of Jamey’s life will be at 2 PM Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Hampton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Martin, Noah Reese, Kenneth Baxter, Chris Hammond, Josh Ambrose and Zendall Baxter.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Cotton, Roland Malone, Eddie Baxter, Buford Baxter, Darrell Derrick and Bobby McMahan.
The family will receive friends 12 PM – 2 PM Sunday at Ziegler Funeral Home.
